Sludge forms from leaves, food scraps, and waste that accumulate at the bottom. As it decomposes, it consumes oxygen and releases nutrients that promote algae growth. Specialized bacteria help break down this organic matter and reduce the thickness of the sludge.
Natural pond or large body of water: Bactovase granules (1 to 25 kg) or Clean-Lac, dosed according to the surface area.
Ornamental pond with a filter: Liquid Bactovase or Bactogen from Aquatic Science, dosed according to the volume.
Period: bacteria work when the water warms up, generally from spring to autumn.
Good oxygenation promotes their action: consider aeration for shallow or very muddy ponds.
