The Siberian sturgeon (Acipenser baeri) is a calm, bottom-dwelling fish that differs significantly from koi and goldfish. It requires a suitable pond to thrive.
- Space: a large and deep pond, with a clear bottom area for swimming.
- Water: cool and well-oxygenated all year round; aeration is recommended in summer.
- Food: specific sinking pellets, as it feeds at the bottom and does not come up to look for floating food.
- Cohabitation: avoid ponds cluttered with plants or obstacles at the bottom.
